The City of Athens Environment and Sustainability Commission is announcing a public meeting to gather public input for city sustainability and climate action plan. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:00 PM at the Athens Community Center on East State Street. Light refreshments will be provided.
The purpose of the meeting will be to do a brainstorming exercise with attendees to gauge their opinion and what goals, objectives, and strategies should be included in the plan. To that end, participants may be prompted with questions such as “What does a ‘sustainable Athens’ mean to you” or “what strategies can city residents, business owners, and city administrators employ to help achieve sustainability in Athens”. Once the brainstorming exercise is finished participants will be asked to vote for the goals, objectives, and strategies that they think are the most important for the commission to focus on.
The City of Athens Environment and Sustainability Commission was established by Athens City Council in 2012 in order to provide comment, feedback, and guidance to council and the city administration on environmental and sustainability issues. The commission meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM in the first floor conference room of the Athens City Building, 8 East Washington Street in Uptown Athens.
