DIY: Chia seed energy gel

With the warm weather approaching, it’s time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine (or if you’re really bold, train for a marathon!). Either way, an energy boost would be a welcome addition to spring.

Think twice before you reach for that energy bar or gel, many of the commercial products contain additives such as dyes, sugars, and high fructose corn syrup, not to mention a slew of other processed ingredients you can’t pronounce. You may gain energy, but also a few extra pounds!

This gel, using chia seeds and coconut water is good for you and all natural.

Chia seeds are all the rage right now among the health community for their various health benefits and superfood properties, and are easily found at any health food or specialty store. Chia seeds have been found to stabilize blood sugar, aid in weight loss, and help detox the body – perfect for an energy gel!

This gel is super easy to make, all you’ll need is two tablespoons of chia seeds and a cup of coconut water. Simply mix the two together and let the mixture sit for ten minutes, that’s it!

This gel will give you plenty of energy, plus the satisfaction that you’re doing something good and natural for your body!
