Next Wednesday, April 25, College Green Magazine will host a screening of the documentary film “Mother: Caring for 7 Billion” with producer Joyce Johnson in Ohio University’s Walter Hall, room 145 at 7 p.m.

The screening is open and free to the public.   Seating is limited so please come in advance to guarantee yourself a seat.

The film makers of  “Mother” examine the issue of exponential human population growth across the world.  Problems of overpopulation are detailed in the context of over consumption in the developed world and exploitation of women in developing countries.  Specifically, the film makers follow Beth, a child rights activist and member of a large family, to Ethiopia where she sees degradation and limitation of women first hand. Many experts on population, history and life in developing nations are interviewed in the film as well.

After the film Johnson will discuss her methods and world population issues as she sees them today.  A question and answer session with Joyce will follow her presentation.

Look out for a short profile on Producer Joyce Johnson later this week.

  1. This is awesome! Congrats on booking a strong speaker this year. And the site overall is looking really good. If I still lived in Athens, I would totally turn out on Wednesday and show CG some well deserved love.
