College Green Voters Guide 2012
How to use this guide
College Green has compiled the environmental stances and past decisions of every candidate on the November ballot in both Congressional districts of Athens County. Candidates are listed in the same order as they appear on the paper ballot. Candidates running unopposed are not listed.
Every candidate has a “Green Grade,” which is a measure of his or her commitment to environmental issues based on past decisions and promises for the future. Candidates who have not served in public office or have not addressed environmental issues in their campaigns were automatically assigned a “C” for average performance. An “A” is reserved for candidates who have demonstrated that the environment is one of their priorities.
A “B” means a candidate has done some environmentally beneficial things or has made green promises. A grade of “D” means a candidate has not addressed the environment or has sided with environmentally harmful industries. The grade of “F” is reserved for candidate who, if elected, would create policies harmful to the environment.
College Green Magazine and its staff do not support any candidate or political party. This guide is meant only as a research tool for voters. Green Grades do not reflect levels of support. Please direct any questions or concerns to editor@collegegreenmag.com or leave a comment below.

Here’s hoping Ohio hasn’t fallen completely asleep since 2010. Voting for the GOP means more fracking, more deep-well injection and more state lands opened up for logging and gas exploration. Don’t get me wrong, the Dems won’t stop any of it for good – but they might at least try, and they at least tend to remember who they’re working for: the State of Ohio and not the energy business.
Sherrod Brown and Debbie Phillips have my support! Keep Ohio strong, clean and green!
